He also served on the boards for Citizens Savings and Loan, the LeavenworthLansing area Chamber of Commerce and the Salvation Army. He spent many years supporting Boy Scout Troop 1. Assistant Scoutmaster while his son was growing up. He was an Eagle Scout and very proud to watch his son earn the rank of Eagle also. Dick loved to hike and spent most family vacations in Estes Park, Colo., where he worked throughout his college summers. The mountains called him and he went as often as possible. He also loved cartooning and was published in the local newspapers, but mostly enjoyed handing out personal drawings to his friends and making them smile. In recent years, his favorite pastime was spending time at his sons business, Daylight Donuts, greeting the customers with his friendly smile and shamelessly promoting the donuts.
